1 May 2016 marks the first day of operations for our new bank MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V. (Herein after MUFG Bank)

Historically, our bank has had a presence in the Netherlands for more than 50 years – under its predecessor bank, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Holland) N.V. – successfully supporting our client base and governing our businesses in the Netherlands and Central and Eastern Europe through our EU banking license. With the official opening of MUFG Bank, I am pleased to reconfirm our commitment to the region by expanding our proven successful business model – from 1 May 2016 our business in Belgium joins our established EU network.

Our vision in establishing this new bank is to create a stronger business in continental Europe to support our growing client base. As we enhance our ability to provide cross-border services and connectivity to the wider MUFG network, we will be better placed to meet the changing needs of our clients, who are expanding their wide-ranging businesses and moving towards a business model that treats the EU as a single market.
