Wubbo Ockels PhD is one of the best-known promoters of durability in the Netherlands and ranks second in the Durable Top 100. He was the first Dutch astronaut and is the initiator of NL2050, professor of Aerospace for Sustainable Engineering and Technology at the Delft University of Technology and honorary professor at the University of Groningen. He obtained his PhD degree in physics and mathematics in 1978 from the University of Groningen. Apart from his pioneering work for sustainability, he is also known for his green energy research projects. Some of his projects are Kite Power, Superbus and S.Y.Ecolution.
