[2013-11-14] Schiphol Logistics Seminar

Schiphol – November 14, 2013

DUJAT organized the logistics seminar at the office of Amsterdam Schiphol Group on November 14. 35 attendees joined this seminar with the very timely topics.

Netherlands provides a strategic location to serve markets within Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The central geographical position of the Netherlands, combined with accessibility and an excellent infrastructure, are one of the reasons why Japanese companies have established their facilities in the Netherlands.

One of the DUJAT’s prominent member companies, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the third largest cargo airport in Europe and recently ranked as the top e-freight orientated cargo community system in the world. Launched in 2010, the €1.2m (US$1.6m) programme called e-Freight@NL involved assessing the needs of the air cargo industry, including examining the capability of IT systems, setting up an open platform for data exchange, as well as, testing and validating information. In just two years, the e-freight shipments have jumped from only 1,665 to 21,176 .

NautaDutilh, also DUJAT member law firm, presented about the way counterfeit products are being intercepted at Schiphol, preventing them to enter the European market.  Managing intellectual properties in cooperation with customs is very important and a critical issue for all internationally operating companies.

Yusen Logistics (Benelux) B.V., one of the long-standing DUJAT member and the leading Japanese logistics company presented their experiences as one of the biggest client of the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
