[2015-09-03] DUJAT “welcome back” Meets & Drinks
We are happy to invite you to the DUJAT’s “Welcome back Meets & Drinks” on September 3, 2015!
This time we are pleased to organize our first event after the summer holiday seasons at the Rembrandthuis in Amsterdam.
It has long been known that Rembrandt made prints on extraordinary choice for paper from Japan, but it remained unclear from which region it originated. Recently researchers in Japan and in The Netherlands (Rijksmuseum) have started research and found out that the papers were most probably originated from the region of Echizen, located in Fukui Prefecture (not yet confirmed). Rembrandt was even a pioneer in the use of such valuable and exotic papers, starting around 1647. The only etched portrait of his son Titus was exclusively printed on Japanese paper. Mitsubishi corporation and Fukui Prefecture have supported this special exhibition.
