[2022-09-21] Japan Meets Brabant – Brabant accelerates: designing the Future of Mobility

Yesterday, we designed the future of mobility during the 7th edition of Japan meets Brabant. It was a true inspiration on how current developments in the automotive industry can contribute to societal challenges that we face today and tomorrow. From a fully electric endurance racecar to a passenger car that captures more CO2 than it emits. The region is ahead of the developments in the automotive industry, that’s one thing we’ve learned.

This event is for members and invitees only.
If your company is member of Dujat and you did not receive the invitation, please contact our office.

We would like to invite you to the 7th edition of Japan Meets Brabant. And it’s a special one…

In Brabant, a number of key ingredients have been fruitfully mixed together, creating one of the strongest smart and green mobility regions in the world. In 1975, Volvo Car took over the passenger car branche of DAF.

Even now, its location in Helmond still forms the central point of the Brabant auto industry. Industry, knowledge institutes and government work together to think of new impulses for the regional automotive cluster in Brabant, which is already at the forefront of ‘smart mobility’ and ‘green mobility’. That’s why this is the best place to host the annual DUJAT event on the future of mobility.

On September 21, DUJAT and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) are organizing the 7th edition of the Japan Meets Brabant at the Automotive Campus in Helmond. During this day, 4 student teams of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) will present their latest developments. Student teams are often the drivers behind startups and successful technologies:

  • Solar Team Eindhoven will show their latest invention: the solar-powered motorhome.
  • InMotion: how students have built world’s first fully electric endurance racecar, that can charge in just 12 minutes.
  • TU/ecomotive will take us through the development of ZEM (Zero Emission Mobility), a passenger car that captures more CO2 than it emits while driving.
  • University Racing Eindhoven (URE), will show their URE16, their sixteenth, and now autonomously controlled electric race car.

In addition, RAI Automotive Industry NL will talk you through the strengths of smart and green mobility in our region. Siemens TASS will show us why and how they are prepared for a new future with autonomous and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Brabant is also home to a perfectly woven network of leading companies. We’ll have a look behind the scenes at ELEO, a company where high performance – tailor made – battery packs are assembled. Their applications can be found in various market segments, such as industrial machines, commercial vehicles, marine applications and more.

Japanese Mirai Data will take us into their design process as they develop an autonomously controlled two-seater for older people. And last but not least: Sekisui is also a Japanese company and will show us how their technology finds its way into dashboards, car windows and car roofs.

Last, but definitely not least, we are honored to welcome Lightyear to the stage to tell us more about their electric solar panel car. Lightyear is a great example of a company that applies energy technology in the automotive industry. This company originated from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and develops electric cars with an energy-efficient design and integrated solar panels, allowing drivers to drive on sunlight for up to 20,000 kilometers a year, depending on the local climate.

Get inspired. Gain knowledge and meet new people. Apply now!
