Conferral of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette (旭日小綬章)

Upon Mr. Radboud Molijn, Managing Director of DUJAT

On June 21, 2016 the conferment Ceremony of “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette (旭日小綬章)” upon Mr Radboud Molijn was held at the Residence of H.E. Japanese Ambassador Mr Hiroshi Inomata.

 

At the ceremony, Ambassador Inomata delivered a congratulatory speech and conferred the decoration upon Mr Molijn after Parent of Decoration.

After the short speech, Mr Molijn handed his first copy of the booklet “Watashi no Nippon kan – My personal reflection” to Ambassador Inomata.

On April 29, 2016 last, the Government of Japan announced the conferees of the 2016 Spring Imperial Decorations.

Among others Mr. Radboud Molijn, Managing Director of DUJAT, the Dutch & Japanese Trade Federation received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of his significant contribution to promote the Japanese and Dutch bilateral relations.

 

Mr. Molijn first visited Japan in 1978, and since then he has devoted himself personally and beyond his professional duties to promote the economic and cultural relations between the two countries.

 

Joining DUJAT in 2004 as its managing director, Mr. Molijn has contributed to support Japanese companies’ business activities in the Netherlands. Also, he has helped Dutch companies starting business in Japan. During his management of DUJAT its membership doubled to approximately 110 members, and the number of events including seminars and symposia to encourage business activities both in the Netherlands and Japan, increased from 4 to more than 12 per year.

 

Right after the big earth quake and tsunami in North East Japan on March 11, 2011 that he witnessed when he was in Japan, he was one of the initiators to establish the “Stichting Nederland Helpt Japan” to raise funds for the thousands of affected people by this unprecedented natural disaster.

 

“We are extremely honored for our managing director to be conferred with this prestigious Order of the Rising Sun from the Government of Japan for his devotion to strengthen the business relations between our two countries”, says Mr. Mantel, Chairman of DUJAT.

 

In addition to serving DUJAT and the Tomoko Mukaiyama Foundation, both non-profit organizations, Mr. Molijn serves as a Managing Partner of Global Bridges BV, a Financial Advisory company and as a Supervisory Board member of Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift Europe BV.
