Deshima Netherlands Awards

How did the Jury work?

The Jury asked the Regional Partner Network of the NFIA to come up with names of companies they thought should be nominated. The nominating parties were asked to come up with good arguments to support their candidates. All nominees were discussed extensively among the Jury members.

What are the criteria to judge the potential winners? They were:

  • The size of the investments
  • The functions of the Japanese candidate award winner in the Netherlands
  • The impact of the company on the local / regional economy
  • The level of corporate citizenship
  • Is the company a leader in its sector?

Obviously these criteria were judged differently for new-investments (less than 5 years in the NL) and well-established companies (longer than 5 years in the NL).

The jury of the Deshima Netherlands Award 2015 was chaired by Mr. Marcel van Aelst, Executive Vice Chairman – Hotel Okura Co. Ltd Japan and until the end of this year President  – Hotel Okura Amsterdam. The jury members were Mr. Frans van Lanschot, Honorary Consul General of Japan in Amsterdam, Jeroen Nijland, Commissioner at NFIA, and Mr. Geert Jan Mantel, Chairman of DUJAT. Mr. Radboud Molijn, Managing Director of DUJAT, was non-voting secretary to the Jury members.
