Presentation Summaries:
“Cyber crisis response & recovery” by Theodorus Niemeijer, Risk Advisory Director at Deloitte Catastrophic cyber events are becoming more common. What was a one-off event is now regular news. The Honda event is a recent example, with Norsk Hydro, Maersk, TNT, Merck on the list since 2017. During his presentation, Theodorus will use examples to explain what actually happened, the (business) impact, what it feels like for people on the ground and the cost of compromise. Theo will explain why these attacks were so successful and why it is so hard to recover. We will explain how these incidents are representative of the macro trend, affecting all industries and sectors. Finally, we discuss cyber crisis response and recover best practices (and some pitfalls) and key elements to have in place to start making your organization more resilient. “The role of Insurance in managing the journey to greater cyber resilience” by Richard Hanlon, Managing Director at Aon Cyber Solutions One of greatest Cyber challenge organisations face is simply keeping up and staying informed about the evolving cyber risk landscape. Why? Because there isn’t necessarily one universal or straight-line approach to cyber security. Richard will describe the current cyber insurance environment and how each organization is at a different place in its cyber resilience journey. He will also explain the concept of the Cyber Loop, In doing so, we will show how Cyber risk goes well beyond a data breach, creating business interruption, reputational damage and cost. The climate is becoming increasingly regulated and punitive, yet cyber risk is still underappreciated as an insurable risk “Cyber Incident and Data Breach Response — Legal Considerations” by Undine von Diemar, Partner at Jones Day As companies increasingly suffer from cyber incidents and data breaches, it is critical to be fully aware of the legal implications arising from such events. This presentation gives an overview of the relevant notification obligations, discusses how to deal with authorities in this situation and provides for practical tips how to reduce breach liability. |
