| We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming webinar which is organized with our member Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, on 25 March on the topic of Mass Damage Claims & Class Actions.
Class actions and collective claims mechanisms around the globe are on the rise. Europe in particular has become far more amenable to mass claims in the last 10 years or so, driven by an emerging political agenda in favour of facilitating (collective) redress for consumers. In addition, litigation funding has gained traction around the world, and is driving much of the increase in group, class and collective claims. Furthermore, with the rise of digital-dependent business models, the likelihood of mass claims relating to the processing and protection of sensitive data and the strength of IT infrastructure may well increase. In this webinar, we will cover the new collective action regime in the Netherlands (WAMCA) and future implications for businesses as a result of the new EU Directive for Collective Redress. In addition, we will touch on how data and mass claims are intertwined and what you need to be aware of in this regard. Finally, we will also cover the complexities and practical aspects around running mass claims in multiple jurisdictions with different rules and share our experience from having advised on many high-profile cases recently.
