[2024-07-23] Summer Drinks at Japan Museum SieboldHuis

We were pleased to welcome the members of Dujat to our ‘Summer Drinks’ event at Japan Museum SieboldHuis in Leiden on Tuesday 23 July. The event started off with a lecture about the history of the museum and Phillipp Franz von Siebold. After the lecture, we were given a personal tour through the newest exhibition about Japanese modern kimono by Kris Schiermeier, Director of the museum. After the tour we toasted to a great summer with drinks and sushi.

The beautiful exhibition ‘Kimono. Mirror of Modernity’ will be on display until the 8th of December this year. Coming up is a temporary pop-up exhibition: ‘Hokusai. The Great Wave’ from 24 August until 29 September. We do recommend you visit the museum for this special occasion.

The next Dujat events will take place in September. For now, we wish everyone a lovely summer.

This event is for Dujat members and invitees only.
If your company is member of Dujat and you did not receive the invitation, please contact our office

It is our pleasure to invite you to join our Summer Drinks event at Japan Museum SieboldHuis in Leiden, on Tuesday 23 July from 17:00. A nice chance for a drink after work, and for meeting with other members in our Dutch-Japanese network.

After a brief introduction by Kris Schiermeier, Director of the museum, you will get the opportunity to enjoy a tour around the museum, and we will conclude the event with networking and drinks.

Kimono: Mirror of Modernity

On the day of our event you will be able to view the new exhibition on display: Kimono: Mirror of Modernity.

Discover the unique fusion of Japanese tradition and Western modernity in the extraordinary Manavello collection, which highlights the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. These kimonos reflect the new era of modernity that Japan embraced during this period. Be enchanted by the striking patterns, vibrant colours, and unique details in this exhibition.
