[2023-02-16] Visit VU Starthub

Yesterday, members of Dujat visited Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) to experience startup initiatives at the VU campus. We started at the VU StartHub, where Erik Boer kicked off the event and VU StartHub Community Managers Marike van Oostveen, Celinha Heinrichs along with Student Ambassadors gave a tour and introduced our group to various startups.

The second part of the programme consisted of a presentation by Peter Cirkel who explained about the Demonstrator Lab Amsterdam, and the Dujat Dragon’s Den, lead by VU’s Chief Impact Officer Davide Iannuzzi. Here we could listen to pitches by 5 VU startups:

  • Ingy: Lighting control helps buildings become more sustainable, healthier, and smarter
  • Impackt: Impackt turns your recycling hurdles into competitive advantages
  • Blooming Buildings: Growing urban space into happy, sustainable places using great green
  • Datacation: A team of whiz kids with the necessary soft skills, dedicated to data!
  • Bamboi: Switch to bamboo toilet paper and contribute to a cleaner world

And also two IXA – Innovation Exchange Amsterdam Spin-Offs:

  • Veridis is developing a plastic analysis machine that revolutionizes (recycled) plastic quality control by scaling up sample sizes with a factor 100.000. Resulting in the use of recycled plastics in high-value applications, making currently unusable recycled plastics usable and giving insight into the daily recycling stream.
  • Photosynthetic: Photosynthetic is a young tech start-up founded in 2019 in Amsterdam, developing a new manufacturing platform for microstructures. Our interdisciplinary approach to 3D printing has allowed us to break boundaries in manufacturing.

They were all received very well by the audience and many questions were asked and answered. It was an inspiring afternoon. Thank you VU Amsterdam for making this event possible, and many thanks to all who joined!

This event is for Dujat members and invitees only.
