Emmen has the greatest concentration of industry of any municipality in the Northern Netherlands. Located here are approximately 5500 companies, many of them focusing on food, plastics, electronics, gas- and oilextraction & processing and agribusiness. Some well-known companies: Asus Holland bv, Balance Point Control, BJ Services International, Coil Services, Cooper Tools, Draka Kabel, DSM, Fresenius, Halliburton, Honeywell, NAM, Norit , Tonalite, Jellice Pioneer and Teijin Aramid, Fresenius. The municipality offers roughly 43,400 jobs.

Emmen offers a plentiful supply of modern, easily accessible business and/or industrial parks. Of the approximately 1200 hectares covered by these facilities, 120 hectares are immediately available. Landprices range from € 40,54 per m². Emmen is located in the Northern part of the Netherlands on the international highway A37 with direct connection to the German A31 highway.
