Sigma is a Japanese manufacturer of high-quality lenses and cameras, headquartered in Kanagawa Prefecture and with a factory in Aizu Prefecture as our main base.

We are a family-owned company, founded in 1961 by Michihiro Yamaki, and today led by his son, Kazuto Yamaki. Our independence as a family-owned company gives us the freedom to think innovatively and make unique choices.

Since 1973, our factory in Aizu has been home to Sigma’s entire production. Maintaining local production is essential to us: it allows us to operate flexibly, promote close cooperation between departments, and implement strict quality controls down to the smallest detail.

From design and engineering to lens polishing, plastic and metal part forming, and assembly – everything is done under one roof. This regional anchoring not only strengthens the local culture, but also allows us to benefit from the extensive knowledge, expertise and exceptional craftsmanship of the region.
