Due to the coronavirus, the Concertgebouworkest (an esteemed member of DUJAT) cannot perform until the 1st of June. As a result, they aren’t able to perform the Matthäus-Passion this Easter at The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, a long tradition since 1945.
Luckily they have been creative and will bring the music to you! Bach’s Matthäus-Passion is their video of the month and can be watched online through this link. The renowned conductor Iván Fischer leads the Concertgebouworkest in this beautiful registration from 2012.
They are also working hard to stream other concerts on different (digital) platforms. They will stream every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4.00 PM on their website, Facebook and YouTube channels. Also, every Sunday morning the Dutch TV station RTL Z will broadcast one of their concerts starting at 10.30 AM for the next nine weeks. Dominic Seldis, solo double bass player within the Orchestra, will give a short introduction to every broadcasted concert.
The orchestra can also be heard on their web radio station, Spotify playlists and our video platform. And there’s plenty more to come… Be sure to keep an eye on their social media channels to experience the power of classical music!
