This year, we intended to organize the Dujat Trip to Japan during the first week of October 2022. When the board decided on this date, we were hopeful that by that time Covid would not prevent us from organizing our travel to Japan in a “normalized” manner.
Since then, Japan has lifted several requirements, but the situation is still not fully as before Covid. For instance, we understand that for group travel, there are still requirements that would make it very difficult for the participants to move around freely and individually. We would also still need a visa and the procedure to obtain such visa for a group apparently is not that easy. In addition, given the latest developments relating to Covid, whereby there is an increase of cases in the Netherlands but also in Japan, the future is far from clear and certain.
Dujat has been working on the preparation of the logistics, not only in scheduling meetings in Japan, but also in making tentative reservations for hotels and transportations. However, we would need to confirm these reservations before the end of this month. And if afterwards we needed to cancel these reservations (because of Covid related restrictions that may apply in October), there would also be adverse financial consequences for Dujat and probably also for the participants. You will appreciate that this is something that we really want to avoid.
As a result, given the uncertainty of what may be possible or not in October, the Daily Management Committee of Dujat has decided, with great regrets, to postpone (once more) our October trip to Japan. We believe that under these circumstances it is the only reasonable and prudent decision that we can take. But we are already working on our new trip which is now scheduled from May 15th – May 19th 2023.
We very much regret that we had to announce this message, but we hope to see many of you at our trip in May (which by the way is a beautiful month in Japan!). In the meantime, we wish you all a very pleasant summer holiday.
