[2019-04-03] Miffy Museum Meets & Drinks

Japan meets Miffy! On Wednesday the 3rd of April, over 40 members of Dujat gathered at Centraal Museum Utrecht. We were honored that Mr. Jan van Zanen, Mayor of Utrecht and Member of Dujat Honorary Committee, and H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Japan to The Netherlands, awarded us with their attendance and a speech. It was a special afternoon for those with a specific interest in Miffy, as we got to take a look inside the Miffy Museum, originally meant for children but with impressive designs, as well as the Dick Bruna Atelier at Centraal Museum.

Of course there was also an opportunity for a drink and a chat, and some even purchased a couple of nice souvenirs at the Miffy Shop. Thank you to all who attended, and of course also special thanks to Mr. Bart Rutten, Artistic Director of Centraal Museum, for the warm welcome and for the brief insights into the museum and upcoming projects.

Our next gathering will be in Twente, we only have a few more spots left so make sure to register as soon as possible! We look forward to seeing you next time!

Dear members of Dujat,

We are pleased to invite you to join us at our next Meets & Drinks event, this time taking place at Centraal Museum Utrecht on Wednesday the 3rd of April.

Centraal Museum, Dujat member since last year, is well-known for its Miffy Museum and Dick Bruna Atelier, and will open their doors for our members for a private tour. Miffy, of Dutch origins, has been a very popular character in Japan for years, with strong sales of Japanese-made Miffy merchandise.

As the Miffy Museum concentrates on Dick Bruna’s work for children, the Atelier also presents his ‘work for adults’. This is done in the form of changing, thematic presentations, demonstrating the diversity of Bruna’s work. Both locations can be visited during our tour.

At 16:00, those who take special interest in the Miffy Museum can visit this small museum for a quick tour. Then at 16:15 registration starts at Museumcafé Centraal where the official programme will start at 16:30, with a word of welcome and introduction by Mr. Bart Rutten, Artistic Director of Centraal Museum.

Then, Mr. Jan van Zanen, Mayor of Utrecht and Member of Dujat Honorary Committee, will give a speech, followed by a kampai (toast) by H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, Ambassador of Japan to The Netherlands. After the kampai, you are free to join a guided tour and see the Dick Bruna Atelier and Miffy Shop, and enjoy a drink at Museumcafé Centraal.
