[2025-09-18] Dujat meets Limburg: The Dutch Match – Japan Meets MVV

Last week on Thursday 18 September, Dujat members visited MVV Maastricht at Stadion De Geusselt, together with LIOF and Deshima Football Consultancy. In 2025, the Dutch-Japanese investment company Deshima Football Consultancy BV became co-shareholder of MVV. Together with the Maastricht Collective, they jointly act as equal shareholders and are involved in the development and build-up of MVV Maastricht.

At the event we were first welcomed by Robbert Koldenhof (managing director LIOF) & Tom Daemen (managing director MVV), and could watch a training session with an explanation of MVV Technical Director Ronny Van Geneugden.

Then it was very interesting to learn how a Japanese investor came to find a regional football club in the South of Limburg with a presentation by Gerald Smith, and to meet with their Co-Founder and Director Takao Toshishige from Japan. Our last speaker was Bert van Marwijk, Member of Supervisory Board MVV, who spoke about his Vision on Football.

Many thanks to LIOF, MVV Maastricht and Deshima Football Consultancy for this sportive and inspiring afternoon in Maastricht. どうもありがとうございました!

About MVV Maastricht

MVV Maastricht is established on 2 April 1902 and, as such, one of the oldest football clubs in the Netherlands. It has a rich history and even brighter future!

The club identifies closely with its home town Maastricht. This can be seen in the club logo (showing a star, one of the symbols of the City of Maastricht), the colours of the club (red and white), the name of the South stand Angelside (referring to one of the symbols of the City of Maastricht) and the singing of the Maastricht Anthem before a match.

“Us MVV” (“our MVV”) has always had a relatively large fan base, leading to average attendance around 5,000.

Since 1961 MVV Maastricht plays its matches in “Stadion De Geusselt” (De Geusselt Stadium), named after the still existing 17th century chateau Geusselt.
