On Wednesday 26 March, Dujat joined the amsterdam inbusiness Cherry Blossom Lunch 2025 at the beautiful Blossom Park-Amsterdamse Bos and Museum Jan. The event was wonderfully organized, with speeches by H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Minami, Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Tjapko Poppens, Mayor of Amstelveen, Mr. Adam Elzakalai, Deputy Mayor of Amstelveen, and Mr. Hiroshi Kurihara, Chairman of JCC.
It was lovely to catch up with many friends in the Dutch-Japanese community. We extend our warmest gratitude to amsterdam inbusiness for the kind invitation and for organizing this great event.
About the Cherry Blossoms
In the year 2000 a special activity was organized to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the “The Netherlands – Japan Friendship Treaty”, the Japan Women’s Club (JWC) donated 400 cherry trees to the local communities. These trees were planted in the Amsterdamse Bos. This location is now named the Blossom Park.
More cherry trees were also planted in the Museumplein, near van Gogh Museum, and along the Deshima Street in Amstelveen. Each tree in the Blossom Park carries a female name – 200 Japanese, 200 Dutch – symbolizing a lasting cultural connection.
This year, we celebrate already the 425th anniversary of the relation between Japan and the Netherlands, so also the 25th birthday of the sakura trees.
