On Sunday 24 May Japan Museum SieboldHuis will host the sixteenth annual edition of the Japan Market! With 50 stands featuring a variety of elements from Japanese art and culture, the market commemorates the visit of the former Emperor of Japan to Leiden in 2000. Visitors of the Japan Market will encounter all aspects of both modern and traditional Japan, varying from kimono’s to prints and from manga to tableware.
The Japan Market will take place on the Rapenburg and will be opened officially at 12:00 at Japan Museum SieboldHuis. During the day, SieboldHuis will of course be open; apart from our current exhibition “Tokyo Tokyo. Richard Koek”, it will offer a wide variety of activities for all ages in the museum. Demonstrations of Japanese martial arts will be held at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden.
More information about the programme and the market can be found on our website: www.sieboldhuis.org.
