Background information:
Digitalization and smart connected applications via mobile networks have great potential to further optimize business processes and services in the coming years. In Japan, companies and organizations are at the forefront of this digitalization and the government has an ambitious vision of Society 5.0. Knowledge institutions and universities are active in translating this vision into projects based on research and applied science. For that reason, it is interesting for Dutch companies to take note of these Japanese initiatives and participate in the trade and innovation mission organized by the Dutch government.
Trade and Innovation Mission:
In the week of May 18 to 24, RVO organizes in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy in Tokyo and the Dutch NGF Program Future Network Services (FNS) a Beyond 5G/6G trade and innovation mission to Japan during the World Expo in Osaka. This mission offers participants a unique opportunity to form strategic partnerships and build knowledge of innovation in one of the most advanced digital societies. The specific focus of the Beyond 5G/6G mission is on applications of the smart connected society in the areas of industry, mobility, maintenance, logistics, life science and entertainment.
During this trade and innovation mission we will visit various companies and knowledge institutions, matchmaking will be set up with Japanese organizations and we will participate in a major conference on the Expo site in the Netherlands pavilion in Osaka. It is expected that the King and various Ministers and many Dutch CEOs who are also in Japan at the time due to a CEO round table (organized by VNO-NCW) will also participate in this conference. In addition, all four delegations from the various missions will be present and it is expected that the total group of Dutch participants that day will consist of approximately 150 people. We also expect between 100 and 200 Japanese guests.
Participated in the Beyond 5G/6G mission:
The Beyond 5G/6G mission delegation (DX1) can consist of a maximum of 25 participants. The Dutch government pays the costs related to the program, for example lunches during the program, transportation to and from companies, and so on. Participants are responsible for other costs, such as hotel accommodation, airline tickets and the high-speed train between Tokyo and Osaka.
In the coming months, the FNS program board will work with the Dutch embassy in Tokyo to develop the agenda for the various meetings. If you would like to participate in the mission and have specific suggestions for organizations in Japan, please let reach out to paul.wijngaard@tno.nl. Feedback on potential collaborations with Japanese counterparts to complement the program is welcome.
Formal registration is open until January 31, 2025 and if you are interested in participating in this mission, please register before that date.
