Last weekend we were honored to be invited for a sportive Japanese afternoon at the Telstar Japan Networking Event for Telstar Women vs. Feyenoord Women, to celebrate the first time that four Japanese female players competed against each other in a Dutch Eredivisie Women League match.
Members of Dujat and JCC, among others, together with their families could first enjoy a business lunch where we were welcomed by Ambassador Minami, Leon Annokkée, General Director of Telstar, Manon Melis, Manager of Women’s Football at Feyenoord, and Marinus Noordenbos, CEO of Hokkai Kitchen. The Japanese lunch was provided by Hokkai Kitchen in collaboration with the chef of the Embassy of Japan.
After the lunch, the Telstar Women vs. Feyenoord Women match started with a ceremonial kick-off by H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Minami, Ambassador of Japan. During halftime there was a sake tasting provided by Yoigokochi, and after the match, guests had the chance to take individual photos with the players. It was a memorable afternoon that combined football, networking, and cultural experiences.
In the end, Feyenoord won 2-1 against Telstar. The highlights can be seen below in the aftermovie.
Mao Itamura made her starting debut for the Rotterdam team, and opened the score in the 37th minute. Jannette van Belen scored the 1-1 for Telstar six minutes later. Feyenoord took the lead again just before half-time. On a pass from Itamura, Ella Van Kerkhoven scored her thirteenth league goal of the season. After the break, both teams had chances but did not score.
